Day 104

In reading we read Birthday Party.  For math it was Lesson 9-6.  The children had Music today with Miss Amy.  In hand writing it was the letter”C”.  We are now using our composition books to write at least three complete sentences, preferably five.  In phonics we worked with the letter “M” and beginning and ending sounds.

In science we moved on to Lesson 3 & 4 as we again do comparisons.   Today I taught them how to use a balance scale to measure weight.  We also talked about size, and bounciness.

Dr. Seuss Week

Today starts Dr. Seuss Week at Hillside ending with Friday night’s carnival of fun!

In reading we read Allie and Ollie.  This is the start of the C level books for everyone, with some pushing on to level D and beyond.  Today instead of Math being in the afternoon I did it right after morning recess, and if this morning is any indicator they appeared much more awake.  With that change we will be doing phonics, handwriting and writing in the after right after Science or Social Studies.

In Math it was lesson 9-5.   Celebrated IXL milestones with:

  • Payton 1,000 questions answered
  • Tucker 2,000 questions answered
  • Thomas 3,000 questions answered
  • Maddie 10 Hours of practice

In handwriting it was the letter “B”, with sentences.   We did a Let’s Find Out magazine, which was all about teeth and their care.  We also found some time to do a Dr. Seuss  word find before Science.  In Science it was Lesson 2 in Balls and Ramps with some more ball comparisons along with observing, rolling and bouncing balls.
