Backwards Day and Royal Icing

Oh my! What a day!  It was crazy with backwards day.  Clothes, shoes, meals and even genders. On chapel we had a great assembly of song and story telling from a local children’s book author.  I will send home a flyer with the book information of this soon to be series of books.  We had our Character Counts Awards this morning for the school.  From our class:

  • Alexcia Worthington – Always does her best work.  Despite having a broken wrist on her writing hand she never let that stop her from always trying her kindergarten best.
  • Annie Keller – In addition to her continued academic excellence, she goes out of her way to help others.
  • Madelyn Benjamin – Always willing to help others and her reading progress is really soaring to new heights.

The children had art today with an eye to perspective.  In reading it was What I Like.  We journaled about what else but – gingerbread boys and girls.  Louie the Elf was off and flying landing up near my kite on his return from the North Pole.  The children had movement today making the final preparations for the school play.

Finally our Big Buddies from Miss Suzanne’s class came up to help us decorate 100 cookies we made for the homeless and needy at Issaquah Meals.  I will deliver those tonight to be packed up with some other goodies from the youth at Good Samaritan Church in Sammamish.  Anyone with blankets or coats that would like to donate them please drop them off for me and I will get them down to them next month.
