Today we had a good time figuring out who trashed our bulletin board neighborhood in social studies. Some thought it was the work of the Gingerbread Man. Others thought it was a leprechaun, while others thought it was the “robbers”. I fessed up, and said it was me and asked them how they felt about people littering in their yard, neighborhood and community? We talked about picking up trash and dogs pooping on lawns and owners not picking it up.
In reading we read Going Places. We had a parent mentor in (Becky Cole) to do one on one reading with a few children. We have a couple more parents scheduled to come in to help . If you are free or have a day off here or there you are invited to come in and listen and help our children read.
We celebrated another IXL achievement with Annie reaching the 2,000 question level and ten hours of practice. What an amazing achievement. We also learned that Annie was one of the winners of the Duvall Family Grocer’s coloring contest . Can’t wait to see what she won!
In handwriting we finished capital letters with a final review of the alphabet. We will turn out attention to number writing and then begin lowercase letter formation.
In phonics it was Explode the Code with classroom Lesson One on sounding and a work book that follows along with the online lessons. The children had Spanish today with Miss Debbie, and in math it was lesson 4-9. Today we talked about the number line and how it can help us figure out what numbers come next or before.
FYI’s
I sent out an email on our Veterans Day Assembly this Friday. Each child has a star in their folder and we are asking you to fill in a name and branch of service of a family member who serves/served or if you know someone who serves/served in the military. If you want to acknowledge more servicemen and women please feel free to draw more stars and include all those who you want to include on our Veterans’ Wall.
We will have our pizza party this Friday along with the ice cream we won for the Walk-a-Thon. The children can also wear pajamas this Friday and bring in a pillow pet.
