Today I sent home progress reports so look for them in their backpacks. In reading we read I Can. In handwriting we finished our numbers with “9” and “10”. For phonics I did sentence dictation to the students using the vocabulary from today’s reading. This should should aid in their sentence writing. The children also journaled their mystery subjects. (They close their eyes and point to a board with different subjects on it) Anything that gets them writing and wanting to write is a good thing.
Kids had PE today. In Envision Math we did lesson 4-6. We celebrated Laina for answering 100 questions in IXL Math. Congratulations Laina!
In social studies we continued with our community theme. I took the children’s neighborhood maps and taped garbage and trash on it and asked how they felt about it. Needless to say they did not appreciate their neighborhoods trashed. We brain stormed things we do not want to see in our neighborhood, and rules we should have to keep it safe, clean and beautiful. Things mentioned were speeding cars, people picking our flowers from our yards, potty talk, bullies, and of course dog poop not being taken care of by dog owners. These reflections are in their journals. Again, please always feel free to look at their various journals, workbooks, and notebooks. All of these are kept by their mailboxes right inside the door.
