School Play Next Week

I sent out email reminders about upcoming events at Hillside, especially the children’s performance in Star of Wonder.

Today we read Maria Counts Pumpkins.  For phonics we did our site words again moving from pre-k to full kindergarten words.  I have sent home a practice sheet for you to work on from time to time with them.  Recognition of these words will really accelerate their reading.

I had planned on a pre-test to Explode the Code but we were down a couple children. It can wait until Monday.  We did go to the computer lab and each child got onto Explode the Code to start this online method of teaching phonics.  Please encourage your child to visit the site along with IXL.

In creative movements the children practiced with their enrichment kindergarten friends for the big performance next week.  I sent a reminder email about the event.

Alex – Star of the Week

This week’s star is our good friend and classmate Alex Highland.  Alex is 5 years old now.
Favorite Color -Green, and blue but green is his favorite
Favorite Animal – Lion
Favorite Food -Anything that has rice in it.

Alex’s favorite place to go is Ixtapa, and I cannot argue that, as it’s my favorite place in Duvall as well, besides Hillside.  When he grows up he wants to be in the Army.  I said he can someday come back to Hillside and speak at the Veterans Assembly.  His favorite thing to do is play soccer.  If Alex had one wish it would be for a dog just like Wilson.
