Faith and Family – Pledge and prayer only today.

The other classes visited us as a class to present and share our learning with.   We in turn visited the other classes to learn about their learning.  It never ceases to amaze me the projects our kids do here at Hillside and the depth of understanding.  Bravo everyone for another successful EXPO.  We have one more left where the arts will be featured.

Moon Activity – A sweet treat.  What is black and white is sweet and reminds me of the phases of the moon.  That kept them guessing for two days then Oaklie figured it out.

Science – The Sun, Moon, and Stars.   It is time to make a model of our design.  The students are challenged with a limited amount of resources to make a functional shelter from the sun.

Math – K – Lesson 4-34 I can solve subtraction problems with break off, cross off, and hiding.
1st – Lesson 4-28 Adding pairs of two-digit numbers with varied sums.

Science – The Sun, Moon, and Stars.   With our only sunny day, we made several observations of the sun using our sundials.  We are using this method to determine where best to put the shelters we design for the playground.

Language Knowledge – Stargazing and Constellations

Science – The Sun, Moon, and Stars.   Magic Beads.    Magic beads are plastic beads that are sensitive to UV light such as is emitted from the sun.  They will change colors in the presence of UV rays.   We will use them indoors to test the protective power of our structures.  The students made a bracelet out of them to take outside for our last sundial observation.
